PolySum Technologies is a research and development company specializing in Engineered Thermoplastic Composite Technology. Using this innovative technology, we have developed a patented thermoplastic railroad cross tie with physical properties that are superior to traditional wood cross ties. This new product is available in two configurations: “Tuff-Tie^©” for standard installations and “Hi-Load^©” cross ties designed for high axle load applications.

This innovative technology has been applied to the marine industry by developing a patented thermoplastic marine piling with several unique physical properties that are superior to traditional wood products.

These environmentally friendly and cost effective products are finding ready acceptance in the marketplace. As an alternative to wood ties, our products have the potential of saving millions of trees and utilizing millions of pounds of waste plastics from landfills. The cross tie material, as formulated, is not affected by chemicals, termites, fungus, rotting, or other problems usually associated with wood products. In addition, lab tests conservatively project a life cycle of at least fifty years, so maintenance costs are practically nonexistent.

PolySum Receives Australian Patent

On February 20, 2003, PolySum Technologies received a patent from Australia for our Engineered Thermoplastic Composite Technology. This patent represents the first of numerous patent applications filed in over twenty countries worldwide.

PolySum Technologies, LLC Files EPO

The firm of Garvey, Smith, Nehrbass & Doody, L.L.C. has on behalf of PolySum Technologies, L.L.C. filed international patent applications in Canada, and the all the members of the European Patent Office including Austria, Belgium, Cyrus, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. We are in the national phase in Canada.
